Spotted lungwort (Pulmonaria officinalis) is a perennial herb traditionally associated with respiratory support. Like many traditional herbs, historical use does not guarantee clinical effectiveness. Use it cautiously and prioritize medical care for persistent respiratory symptoms.

Traditional uses

  • Soothing irritated throat and cough
  • General “respiratory support” in folk practice

Preparation (infusion)

Typical method: steep 1 teaspoon (about 1–2 g) of dried herb in 250 ml of just-boiled water for 10–15 minutes, then strain.

How to use: 1 cup up to 2 times daily for short periods. Stop if irritation, rash, or stomach upset occurs.

Safety notes

  • Avoid if you have known plant allergies to Boraginaceae family plants.
  • Seek medical advice for asthma, COPD, pneumonia, persistent cough, fever, or shortness of breath.
